Thai labor laws apply to all Thai and foreign employers and employees. Therefore, it is necessary for employers in Thailand to familiarize themselves with the general provisions, main principles and structure of Thai labor law.
While the level of protection afforded to employees in Thailand's Labour laws may not be the same as in countries such as Germany, the rights enjoyed by employees cannot be underestimated. It is worth noting that the enactment of the Labour Protection Act B.E. 2541 (1998) marked the beginning of the development of the protection of employees' rights. In addition, recent decisions of the Thailabour courts and amendments to the Labour Protection Act have further strengthened the rights of employees.
Thai labor law reflects all aspects of Thai culture, social hierarchy, economic structure and development. So it's a combination of government protection and free market economics. Since 1992, Thailand's labor law has undergone several changes. The Ministry ofLabour (ofLabour), established in 2002, oversees and regulates all labour-related matters.
