The State of Japan (Japan), abbreviated as Japan, with its capital Tokyo, is an arc-shaped island country extending from northeast to southwest on the west coast of the Pacific Ocean. It includes four major islands of Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu, and more than 6,800 small islands. Moreover, it is the only developed country with a population of over 100 million except the United States.

Japan is a highly developed modern country, one of the world's four major economies, and the only Asian country in the Group of Seven.
