The Portuguese Republic (The Portuguese Republic), referred to as Portugal for short, has its capital Lisbon and is located in the southwest of the Iberian Peninsula in Europe. It is connected to Spain in the east and north, and borders the Atlantic Ocean in the west and south.  

Portugal is a moderately developed country in the European Union with a relatively weak industrial foundation. Textile, shoemaking, wine-making, tourism, etc. are the pillar industries of the national economy.
